I have been seeing monarchs too but so far I have not seen as many butterflies as there were last year. The drought was very hard on all of them. I hope this year will be better for them.
There are a lot of flowers blooming in my garden now and I will be post
I love poppies! My mother had a field of poppies when I was little and I just loved everything about them. They have a very nice smell and they are so bright beautiful. Dad took a picture of my sister and I in that field wearing bright red skirts, the poppies were almost as tall as we were. I got the start for these poppies from a neighbor and moved them to this garden just last year. The yellow flower is a tree peony and the blue is salvia. The cat is Jeaves. Several people have asked me where to get milkweed plants. I ordered some native plants this year, including milkweed and i got them from Prairiemoon Nursery. The plants were big and healthy, I would recommend them to any one. Their webpage is www.prairiemoon.com
It is with great sadness that I tell you my husband Richard was killed in a car accident on April 20. This is the reason I have not posted for some time. It has been a difficult time for me, our friends and family. We were married for 40 years. I will always miss him. This photo was taken last year. Richard was working on a walk way through the garden. It is unfinished. The weather got unbearably hot last summer so we decided to wait and finish it this spring. Some day I may try to finish the project. But for now, it remains as it is. Although it has been hard working alone, I will keep the garden going. I will be planting a memorial garden for Richard and will post pictures of its progress. Our Garden has always been a peaceful place to rest and it will bring me peace again in the future.
My name is Pat and I have been gardening most of my life. My husband Richard helps out with the heavy stuff. I love butterflies and have a Monarch Waystation. I also love animals and have cats, dogs, horses, angora goats, chickens and guineas.
